Installing a Tile, Laminate or Wooden Floor? Don’t Forget the Underfloor Heating!

Tile, laminate and wooden floors are a beautifully practical addition to any home. Easy to clean, easy to maintain and giving a contemporary streamlined look, they are a firm favourite for anyone undertaking home renovations.

But they do have one downside: they can be cold underfoot, and just aren’t as cosy as classic carpet. You shouldn’t let this put you off, however, as the answer to cold floors is underfloor heating! If you’re installing solid floors anywhere in your home, think about adding underfloor heating too, to make sure that your home is toasty warm.

Comfort where you Need it Most

The obvious benefit of underfloor heating, of course, is the comfort factor. Whether you’re nipping down to the kitchen for a drink in the early hours, stepping out of the bath on a cold winter’s morning, or reading the Sunday papers in the conservatory, underfloor heating will give you the warmth that solid floors often lack, without being dangerously hot.

Further Benefits of Underfloor Heating

Aside from the comfort, there are other benefits of being warm underfoot. If the room you’re renovating is small, underfloor heating means that precious wall space isn’t lost to radiators, so it’s ideal for small extensions, bathrooms and conservatories.

You’ll also find that underfloor heating stops there being cold spots within the room, as the heat is distributed evenly. No more complaints that certain spots on the sofa are cosier than other chairs in the room! It can also help those with allergies, as it eliminates dust mites and reduces damp.

Underfloor heating is also easy to maintain and control, so don’t worry that you’ll be out of your depth with it, it’s not complicated at all!
